Ways to Warm Up Your Bathroom for Winter

Dec 8, 2014 3 min read

Let’s face it, winter is fast approaching and even if you are a snow lover no one likes a cold bathroom.

However, there are some tips and tricks to help you achieve that warm and welcoming bathroom that everyone dreams of at the end of a long cold winter’s day. Check out these cheap and easy ways to warm up your bathroom.

how to Warm Up Your Bathroom for Winter

Rugs – Get large cozy rugs to place in front of each vanity, tub area or shower. This way your feet stay warm while getting ready in the morning. Be sure they are bathroom safe and have a rubber style backing so the rugs don’t side.

Heated Vent Fan – Another very popular item that serves several purposes is a heated vent fan with a built in light. This vent fan has a setting that allows you to turn on a fan that sends warm air into the space. Within just a few minutes your bathroom is warm and toasty even right out of your shower. During the summer your fan allows you to just use the vent and light aspect.

Towel Warmers – These are a great way to not only heat your towels, but to also add heat into your bath space. They have been popular for awhile with the oldest versions designed as a hydronic steam style that heats water and sends the heated water through the pipes. These are still available today and come in a variety of sizes. Another style of towel warmer is the electric version that can be hardwired and controlled with a switch. These come in a variety of styles from traditional to contemporary and have become very popular in the remodel industry.

Heated Floors – Like towel warmers, heated floors take the chill out of the air and help reduce heating bills. Laying the heating coils under your tile floor in the most used areas of the bath will warm up the entire room and will keep not only your feet but your whole room feel warm and inviting.

Heat Vents – If you are remodeling, have your designer look at the location of your existing heat vents. Some homes heating vents were not placed in the most ideal location for air circulation. The ability to move them will redirect the heat to a more central location sending your much needed warm air into the main area of the bath.

Tub Materials – Natural materials for tubs such as Volcanic Limestone, Soapstone or natural metals such as Copper are great materials for holding in heat. The water is not cooled by its surroundings so you are able to enjoy a much longer soak while watching the snow fall outside.

By using the tips and tricks above will help you stay warm even on the coldest day. Happy winter and stay warm!
