Master Bathroom Tub Design

Aug 12, 2015 3 min read

Designing a functional and aesthetically pleasing space is important to homeowners. We here at Dream Baths by Kitchen Kraft understand the time and effort it takes to plan such a space as this. Often times though, homeowners jump right in without thinking about all the options available to them and before they know it, they’re stuck looking at a potentially ugly or inconvenient set-up. Choosing a tub falls in this category. That’s why we feel it’s important to discuss three very different styles of tubs for redesigning your bathroom; contemporary, transitional, and traditional.

CONTEMPORARY:

If contemporary is what you seek, you can use a sleek, streamlined free-standing bathtub or a drop in to a tub deck which doubles as a shower bench with a modern glass enclosure. This is nice for a bathroom that has ample amount of space and lighting to work with.

TRANSITIONAL:

Transitional allows you to select any type of tub and make it work with the rest of the design. It could include a free-standing tub with taller shower fixtures and framing to look more “old-fashioned” or could be more practical in nature, fitting into a small space. They’re great for homeowners with versatile needs and/or multiple members of the family in one house.

TRADITIONAL:

Finally, traditional bathrooms can be either a more traditional free-standing tub or a nice, large corner whirlpool inserted into a tub deck. This works for the more luxurious at heart and usually takes up a decent amount of room, especially with the tub being inserted into a deck.

The functionality of the tub can be one of the most important things to consider while designing. How often the tub is used can determine the size and location while its shape and type can be determined by the overall space of the bathroom. Your best bet is to search out already remodeled homes and how they’ve used their space. It might also be a good idea to contact a representative for a free consultation on how we can best suit your needs here at Dreams Baths.
