New homeowners to a house located in Columbus, Ohio loved almost everything about their new home, except the master bath. They liked the traditional style of the older home, but they wanted to have a more functional layout to help with their morning routine. The couple asked for referrals from friends and neighbors and met with designer, Jim Deen of Dream Baths, located in Columbus, Ohio.
They did not like the layout of the bath. In the existing layout the toilet was across from the shower and near the entry. Across from the doorway into the bath there was a beautiful wall of windows. Below the windows there was some cabinet storage, a make-up area and a single sink in the corner. The couple hoped to relocate the toilet so it was not a focal point. They also wanted two sinks with two mirrors, and additional storage. Lastly, the couple wanted the tub shower combo converted to a tiled shower with a door.
Deen asked the couple what style they would like the new master bath to have. The homeowners chose a traditional look to tie the space into the other rooms in the house. They wanted to have clean lines and a simple design. Deen put pencil to paper and quickly came up with a design tied to the traditional look the homeowners wanted.
Using the wall of windows and the beautiful framing as the focal point, Deen relocated the toilet behind a wall and designed a double-bowl vanity with cherry cabinets and marble countertops. An extra cabinet was put on the countertop to create additional storage, and the mirror frames were stained to match the cabinets. The tub was removed and converted into a shower. To keep the traditional look, Deen used the magnolia travertine on the shower walls and the floor for a seamless look. The shower was finished off with a semi-frameless shower door.
